The researchers noted that Viagra is a treatment for about one-fifth of all men who are at risk for cardiovascular problems.
“The data do not suggest that Viagra is more effective than sildenafil for men at an increased risk of cardiovascular events,” said Friedman. “This finding is consistent with the findings of previous studies showing that sildenafil was associated with a lower risk of death in men with established cardiovascular disease.”
In the study, Friedman and colleagues also found that Viagra did not increase the risk of dying from any kind of cardiovascular event.
